Have you ever found yourself thinking about money, looking at people who have money and thinking they know something you don’t.

A few money mindsets that will keep you small, an struggling are

  • Money is evil, and people who make a lot of money are evil, those rich jerks

  • Money is hard to make, no matter what I do, there is never enough

  • Money can’t buy happiness

  • Only THOSE people can make money

When you shift how you look at money, how you relate to money will change.

Below are 5 Money Mindsets that will help adjust your thinking about money, so that you can get out of your head and start serving the world in the way you were meant to serve.

Mindset 1: Money Is a Renewable Resource

Money comes and money goes, it goes where it is wanted, but not always where it is needed. Because money is a renewable resource, you can always make more, when and if you believe you can. Whether you are funding your dreams with a paycheck or with a business or both- you know that when you show up, do the work. You will get paid.

There is not a finite amount of money in the world, we make it, we spend it, some people save it, and others invest it. My dad has always told me to work hard for money, but also to make money work hard for me (that’s a whole other conversation for another day.)

I’ve found when I’ve ever started to feel insecure around money- reminding myself that it’s a renewable resource and I can always make more, really helps to shift my mindset, and get me moving forward again.

Mindset 2: More Money Means More Impact, the most Selfish Thing I can do is stay broke, and hardly even be able to help myself let alone anyone else

Have you ever heard the saying," So broke, can’t even afford to pay attention?” There is something to be said about that statement. When you are worrying about money like where your rent is going to come from or how you will feed your children all sensibility and reason go out the window. You become desperate, selfish, fearful, and willing to do just about anything to solve your situation of brokeness, like using or hurting others, stealing, or worse. It’s near impossible to think about abundance when you are experiencing so much scarcity- you literally can’t even think straight.

When you accept that it is your responsibility to make as much money as you possibly can, not only do you not have to worry about feeding your children or paying your rent- because you have an excess you can spend your money on things that matter to you like shopping at your favorite small businesses, donating to your favorite charities, and investing in the future of your children and grandchildren.

A great book I read on this topic was “Thou Shalt Prosper:10 Commandments for Making Money” By Rabbi Daniel Lapin, in it he breaks down the spiritual teachings and the value of wealth in things of the spirit. Once you read this, you can no longer blame religion or spiritual beliefs on your state of being broke. That is FREEDOM my friend.

Mindset 3: Making money is easy and fun. It flows to me like water, and is always there when I need it and even when I don’t

If it feels like your money faucet has been shut off, evaluate what you are doing to stop the flow. Are you making it harder than it needs to be? Are you somehow vilifying yourself or others who have money?

Money is not hard to make- it’s not hard to create- but at times humans have a tendency to make it seem futile and stressful. The beauty is, everyone has the ability to create their own economy and their own opportunities. Sometimes it just takes a little creativity and a desire to handle your biz-nas. You can’t just sit around think about dollar bills in your bank account, you actually have to do the work to get them in your bank account (you can read the blog I wrote on this topic HERE.)

Mindset 4: Money goes to to where it is has a Purpose, and where it will be appreciated the most

Money goes where it is wanted, and if there is some part of you that wants nothing to do with money, you are afraid of what it will mean if you have money or the kind person you will become, you will naturally repel money from your life.

I’ve heard it this way, money is energy- and when money is exchanged, energy is exchanged. When you are working a job- the energetic exchange is set when you are hired, your hourly wage or salary. When you are a business owner, energy is exchanged when you sell someone your product or service and deliver it to them. The better your product, the more times you will get to participate in the energy exchange, called a transaction, the more money you will make.

Money will always go where it has a purpose. Plain and simple. The purpose for the person exchanging money is different that the purpose for the person receiving the money- but there is always a purpose.

Mindset 5: Money is a Tool- The Money I have, the More Resources Available to Me

So many people get so messed up about money, the meaning of money- when at the end of the day, it’s just another tool like a screwdriver or a hammer. People who have more money, have more options- they have more resources and tools at their disposable because they took the time and did the work to acquire, save, and invest money.

Money buys you options.

You want or need a new car- money pays for it.

You want a bigger home- money pays for it.

You want to go on a first class vacation- money pays for it.

Moving into your bigger home, and don’t want to do the moving- money pays for movers.

With money, you can create jobs and possibilities for others, that you simply cannot if you are broke. Money feeds the economy, your children, and your business. You can’t expect to thrive in our modern world without it.

In conclusion, money isn’t everything but it certainly isn’t nothing. If you are someone who has consistently gotten in your own way of achieve the wealth and impact you know you have always been meant for, it’s time to get honest about the beliefs you have around money that are stopping you.

You can have your faulty beliefs, and hang onto those for all their worth or you can handle them and starting making an impact, how you’ve dreamed of. Money is not evil, how people use and abuse others with money is evil.

Why You Don't Need Another Course

The first meeting of Course Buyers Anonymous has come to order, you belong here if you have been guilty of purchasing courses to solve your problems, going through the first few modules, then dropping them like bad habit, because you bought another course.

Are you guilty of this? Buying a course, starting the course, quitting the course, then buying another course that does the same thing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love buying courses, I’ve bought many courses over the years, some I finished, some I didn’t. When I take a step back and look at all the money I’ve spent on courses I never completed- it makes me tear up a little.

People buy courses because the marketing is spot on, the sales process is easy, and the course promises to help you achieve your goals and dreams.

Where most of these courses and programs are missing the mark is the people component. Part of the value stack of just about every single course is the course itself, a facebook community, and workbooks for implementation. None of this is necessarily wrong, but there is something missing in the equation… accountability and help with implementation.

Most people buy a course when what they really need is a mastermind or coaching program, because it’s what they can afford. When you stop to look at how much money you spend on courses doing the same thing, you could easily afford coaching or a mastermind, where you can almost be guaranteed to shoot past your goals, because you have coaching, accountability and true community.

I have a beef with coaches, consultants and course creators who lean heavily on their facebook groups for community, support and accountability.

With the push to grow facebook groups specifically, the personalization and caring of the industry has taken a back seat. When I see community through a facebook group being part of a value stack, I roll my eyes a little. I roll my eyes even more when I see these same people asking how to increase engagement in their facebook group.

That’s not community friends, it’s a cop out, (but that’s another post, you can read here.)

There are actually a couple courses and programs out there that take the implementation and coaching part more seriously in their sales process, but when the rubber hits the road they too fall flat in assisting with implementation.

I’m cautious of investing in companies who largely scale personalized coaching, fail to deliver personalized coaching, and hide behind contracts and weak facebook groups.

There are also some really great personalized course implementation coaching programs, which are smaller, the quality is high, and you aren’t just another number on their enrollment sheet. These programs tend to be smaller, less hyped, but more personalized- so you aren’t just getting lost in the shuffle- but they are a bit more expensive than just a course.

Friend you don’t need another coarse, you need accountability, you need a sounding board, your need someone to bounce ideas off of, and tell you what is great, and what is not. Buying another course, is just going to drain your bank account, and leave you just as confused as you were when you started.

You don’t need another course, you need coaching and accountability, if you really want to take your results to the next level. Sure you can do it on your own, but it takes longer, is more frustrating, and you get to skip the hardest learning curve when you have someone come along side you, and guide you.

Make no mistake, coaching won’t solve your problems, you still have to do the work. Coaching will give you a ear to bend, a real person to talk to, who is equally invested in your success, but it won’t give you someone to do the work for you.

If you are ready to get your business off the ground, I have a new program starting soon, called the Get Paid Every Day Case Study Program, where I will guide you through getting your business off the ground, and show you how to get sales everyday.
